Note: if you are viewing this on a mobile device there seems to be a glitch where the dates aren't showing properly. I won't be fixing this as the same problem doesn't appear to be happening with actual artist pages that the public see. Biography
Tess Meadows is a mixed media artist and tutor. She graduated from Cornwall College in 2006, with an HND in Fine Arts and in 2009, opened her first business, an art studio/workshop at the Sloop Studios in St. Ives, Cornwall. She was also a member of Cornwall Open Studios and sold her work through various art galleries, including the New Craftsman Gallery and the St. Ives Society of Artists.

In 2010, Tess moved to Cambridge, where she was a member of Cambridge Open Studios and sold her work locally through independent boutiques, as well as doing private commissions. In 2013, she auctioned a piece of her work at Clarendon Fine Art in London, for the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer charity event. The following year, she was invited to create a piece of artwork for 'Cycle of Songs' - an Arts Council England funded project, commissioned by Cambridge City Council and devised by the award winning Pilot Theatre and Historyworks, to mark the 'Tour de France' visit to Cambridge on 7th July 2014.

Tess moved to North Norfolk in 2015 and is a member of North Norfolk Open Studios. From November 2016 until May 2022, she ran her own contemporary art gallery 'Tess Ainley Gallery' in Holt, where, as well as her own artwork, she showcased a wide variety of emerging and established British contemporary artists. In 2017, her work was selected for the Cley 17 North Norfolk Exhibition Project and her art gallery was a finalist in the 2019 Muddy Awards. Her artwork was also shortlisted for the Sir John Hurt International Art Prize (Holt Festival) in 2020, 2021 and 2024.

From January 2025, Tess has been busy running weekly Art & Wellbeing Workshops from Cley Village Hall, which will continue year round. These include 'Beginner's Collage' 'Introduction to Mixed Media/Mark Making' '3D Assemblage' 'Fabric & Stitch/Textiles' 'Art Journalling/Working in a Sketchbook' and 'Driftwood Sculpture' amongst others. She is also running a weekly Collage Club. You can ask Tess about these and more upcoming workshops during Open Studios (where you are also welcome to sign up) or check her instagram page @tessmeadowsartist for more information.

The Old School, Cley, was built in the mid-late 1800’s and closed in 1982. Her house is listed (number 2) on the Cley Heritage Walk (free maps can be found outside Cley Village Hall car park.) A great opportunity, to pick up a leaflet and come and see Tess’ studio, inside this beautiful old school building + make a day of exploring Cley’s historic highlights.

You can find out more details and information about Tess' 'Art & Wellbeing Workshops' by emailing her on tessainley@gmail.com and you can also follow her on her instagram page @tessmeadowsartist
