I am an abstract photographic artist and diorama/model maker. After graduating in art photography, I pursued a successful career as a commercial photographer, working in fine art, theatre and music. In between working, I enjoyed exhibiting my personal work, including exhibitions around the UK and abroad. However about 6 years ago I decided that I really wanted to give my full attention to my art and so became a full time artist. Since then I have exhibited widely including the Mall galleries in London, New York, Paris & Vienna.
Today, my creative process is guided by curiosity and experimentation. I’m drawn to the abstract and the in-between — the moments and materials that challenge how we see and feel. Each piece I make is a conversation between the real and the imagined, asking what happens when we let both coexist. I look for a painterly feel to my photographs, there fore only using natural light, reflections & refraction without manipulation.
I also make small scale scenes/dioramas/sculptures, hand building and painting most of the components myself and often using an everyday item to build on. Using my hands to build things has been a love of mine since a child and I have a fascination with small detail.
Whether through the lens or within a three-dimensional frame, I continue to experiment with the ways we perceive reality — crafting visual spaces that feel at once intimate and infinite.
