Deckled Edge is my fine art studio, rooted in the quiet countryside of North Norfolk, where I create works that celebrate the beauty, spirit, and traditions of rural life. My art is best described as semi-realistic—detailed yet expressive, designed to capture not only the likeness of a subject but also the emotion and atmosphere that surround it.
Much of my work explores equine themes, pairing the strength and elegance of horses with delicate natural forms such as oversized florals. More recently, I have expanded my practice to include wildlife and the traditions of the British countryside—deer at the woodland’s edge, pheasants rising in a flurry of wings, and loyal gundogs at work in the field. These subjects reflect my deep connection to nature and the heritage of country pursuits, which inspire and shape my collections.
I work entirely by hand, drawing freehand without projections or digital shortcuts, and often on a large scale. Each line, each layer of pencil or brushstroke in oil, is built with patience and intent. This commitment to traditional methods is central to my practice, allowing my art to carry an authenticity and rawness that connects with viewers on a personal level.
Alongside original works, I produce fine art giclée prints and carefully crafted supporting products, all made here in the UK. My aim is to make art that feels both timeless and approachable—pieces that can be treasured as heirlooms, yet also enjoyed as part of everyday life.
Ultimately, my art is about connection: to animals, to landscapes, and to the quiet, enduring traditions of the countryside. Through my work, I hope to share a sense of stillness and wonder, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and find beauty in the world around them.
