Holly is a storyteller in clay, using a variety of ceramic processes including slip casting and wheel throwing to create her work. She is deeply drawn to experimentation, enjoying the slow and methodical building of texture, stains, and reactive glazes in a controlled way before offering her vessels to the heat of the kiln. Through this process, each piece emerges as a unique object with its own character and personality.
Creating objects for the home brings a sense of calm to Holly’s life, working from her studio nestled in a small village on the Norfolk coast. She considers her tactile vessels truly successful when something as simple as a mug becomes the first piece reached for in a collection of tableware. Her practice encompasses both decorative and functional ceramics, with careful consideration given to form, surface, and use.
Holly gained a First-Class Honours degree in Design Crafts (Glass, Ceramics, Metal and Textiles) from De Montfort University, Leicester, in 2018. Following graduation, she participated in One Year On and New Designers, and went on to work for Throw Down judge Sue Pryke in her busy Leicestershire studio. She also supported Hannah Townsend at the British Ceramics Biennial and Ceramic Art London, before relocating to her studio and home in North Norfolk. Holly currently tutors alongside continuing her own ceramic practice and selling via galleries and events.
