Note: if you are viewing this on a mobile device there seems to be a glitch where the dates aren't showing properly. I won't be fixing this as the same problem doesn't appear to be happening with actual artist pages that the public see. Hayley has drawn animals since she was old enough to hold a crayon. Now she has moved on from crayons (although they do sometimes feature in mixed media work) and in the last few years she has started selling work through galleries, art markets and online.
What’s not changed is the subject matter. Inspiration comes from the natural world.
Her biggest passion will always be animals, aiming to capture their beauty, form and movement in her own humorous and maybe a touch whimsical style. Working in Acrylic, ink, watercolour and mixed media, including papier-mâché.
Hayley lives in Norfolk with her photographer husband and their dogs.
Her own dogs are her ‘muses’ making pieces of them over the years has led to her producing commissioned pet portraits in her ‘cartoonish’ style for lots of other animal lovers. Working from photos and chatting with the customer helps to create a piece they can enjoy in their home or for a special present.
Hayley says “My goal is to bring a smile to the viewer yet remain true to the animals natural spirit and essence”. Reading feedback from customers, her work has brought lots of smiles and joy.
She is delighted to be exhibiting her work in her first North Norfolk Open Studios. Her work is being hosted by Bluebelles this year while she awaits her own studio space to be built.
