Note: if you are viewing this on a mobile device there seems to be a glitch where the dates aren't showing properly. I won't be fixing this as the same problem doesn't appear to be happening with actual artist pages that the public see. Hi everyone my name is Gill Simmons . When I was a child I can remember being creative, from making my peg doll clothes from loo paper to fettling animals from bacofoil and drawing ...a lot. I remember sketching my grandad at about 9 years old on the back of an old Xmas card my nan had saved to draw on. Many years later maybe 20 or more, clearing out nans things ready to move we found this same pic tucked at the back of their larder cupboard where she would have seen it many times a day. As photos were less accessable to that generation, I felt proud to have given her a lasting reminder. It did have a real likeness to grandad who had died 15 years earlier.
Art wasn't an option at school. So it fizzled out. Fast forward to 2020. I inherited a 3 foot cubed cardboard box of dad's art materials. And so my passion was re-ignited. I bought a few how to draw, paint books at beginner lever and tried my hand. An online course taught colour wheels and how to paint birds. Going through stages of painting watercolour. I have no formal training. But I have signed on for a few online courses. I like the unusual, quirky and funny; usually mammals and birds, fruit, veg and flowers but I have been known to paint urban and rural landscapes too. I hope you like my work. Enjoy.
Regards Gill
