Hello, I'm Carol Ann Taylor, artist, now living and painting in North Norfolk.
In recent times I have moved here from my long time home in West Surrey.

I continue to paint in my favourite impressionistic style inspired by the delightful land and seascape scenery around me. Norfolk is a delight of richly textured woodland complemented by enchanting and undulating pastures. Along the coast we have low lying salt marshes and turbulent North
sea waves, often pounding the shoreline. There are sweeping clifftop views, broad open skies, swooping sea birds and deeply contrasted at other times by calm sparkling summer seas. All these conspire and bring about a yearning to capture such beauty in my paintings.

My passion for painting has evolved over many years.
During teacher training at Roehampton, I studied art as a special subject. From there my teaching and painting bloomed.
Teaching in primary education in West Surrey, I enjoyed every opportunity to teach art and craft-work skills to children in class. Later, when teaching part-time, I began to enhance my personal artistic skills and develop my own impressionistic style and techniques, using mixed media, acrylics, pastel, charcoal and sometimes oils.

I've always enjoyed the challenge of capturing the movement and energy of equestrian subjects. Wild horses and racehorses feature feature in many of my paintings. I have exhibited as a Friend of the Society of Equestrian Artists and demonstrated charcoal drawing at Ascot Race Course.

As an active exhibiting member of several art societies in West Surrey and also as a founder member of West Surrey Artists, I have been honoured to have been presented several awards from these societies.

My paintings have been exhibited at many venues throughout West Surrey..... Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking - 2015 Art Gallery, Runnymede - The Lightbox, Woking - The James Hockney Galleries at the University of Arts, Farnham, and in London I have exhibited at The Mall Galleries with the Society of Women Artists.

And so to Sheringham in North Norfolk, where I continue painting at my home studio and as a menber of 3 local art groups and a plein air painting group.
Here I have displayed my paintings at Sheringham, Cromer and East Runton, with more to follow.

I hope you enjoy your visit to my website pages and especially to the North Norfolk Open Studios event 2024
