Annie is a spinner, weaver and dyer working with the alpaca fibre from her Norfolk herd. She has been breeding alpacas and working with their fibre for over 25 years. She is passionate about both the fibre and the welfare and happiness of her alpacas.
Annie uses traditional methods to create individual hand-crafted pieces and works with natural dyes to create an extensive colour palette to complement the natural colours of the herd. As a spinner, weaver and dyer Annie enjoys being able to imagine, design and complete a piece from raw fibre to a finished product. Some fleeces are sent to a specialist alpaca mill to process to yarn and then hand dyed by Annie on the farm using natural dyes. Other fleeces are kept for the slower more mindful process of hand spinning. The yarns are either sold at this stage or Annie will develop them further using traditional weaving, knitting or felting techniques. Alpaca is a beautifully soft and extremely strong natural fibre suitable for knitting, crotchet, weaving and felting. In the spring and summer visitors can book to enjoy the company of the herd by walking them through the beautiful woods of Burnt Fen, or book in for a private alpaca cream tea. Annie also teaches spinning, weaving and natural dye workshops in her studio next to the alpaca fields.
