I trained in sculpture at Wimbledon School of Art in the 1990's. Since graduating, I have been running community and participatory art projects for galleries, museums, arts organisations, schools and festivals around the country, and undertaking public art commissions for hospitals, schools and country parks. These have included the atrium installation 'Sea Air' at Cromer Hospital, an Organ Donor commission for Addenbrooke’s hospital, and extensive work at the Eden Project in Cornwall.
Since 1993 I have worked in collaboration with fellow sculptor Lisa Lindqvist making snow sculptures for International Festivals in China, Japan, Greenland, Russia and Sweden. In 2023 and 2024 we were commissioned by the Ice Hotel in Sweden, making the Ceremony Hall from snow and ice in 2024. Our work has been featured in television shows and documentaries.
Whilst still being committed to sharing work and creativity in the public realm through projects and workshops, I took on this beautiful workshop on the Blickling Estate thanks to Arts Council funding in lockdown, and am very much enjoying the process of making a body of work here.
I am endlessly inspired by the seasons, and close, immersive observation of the more-than-human world. I love the process of making, often using found steel and a plasma cutter that enables me to explore sillouetted forms in space. I am inspired by the playful transformation of materials, and what happens when different elements are brought together.
I have found that, by making this work, I notice more and more around me, and I hope it inspires this this connection and wonder in the viewer too.
I am happy to undertake commissions for gates, fences, panels, signage and other work of any scale - please talk to me. I love the dialogue involved in creating bespoke work for people and places.
