Note: if you are viewing this on a mobile device there seems to be a glitch where the dates aren't showing properly. I won't be fixing this as the same problem doesn't appear to be happening with actual artist pages that the public see. I am Kate Gabriel, a self-taught artist living and working in Ludham in the Norfolk Broads, England. I live in a thatched cottage with my husband Tom and a collection of rescue animals (currently Labrador Ivy and three cats, Horatio, Socks and Boots) who are regular models in my work.
Inspired by animals, gardens, Broads, coasts, and the wonderful nature and landscapes of the Norfolk countryside, I paint in primarily in oils from life, with little journeys into gouache and watercolour.
I regularly participate in plein air painting events such as Paint Out Norfolk, winning the Judge's Prize in 2023. I have exhibited work widely throughout the county.
My home gallery and studio in Ludham is open for Open Studio events and at other times by chance or by appointment. If travelling, call ahead to avoid disappointment.
