I have worked in stoneware and raku for over thirty years, developing a practice rooted in the British studio pottery tradition and in the steady, disciplined rhythm of making. My focus is on creating functional and sculptural pieces that bring form and purpose into balance: pots that feel good in the hand, behave as they should and are made to be used.
Craftsmanship is central to my work. I value sound construction, resolved forms and careful finishing, believing that a pot’s integrity lies in how well its practical demands meet its aesthetic ones. A clean pour, a well-fitting lid, a deliberate curve—these details matter, and they guide every stage of my process. My palette remains calm and natural, allowing form and proportion to take the lead.
Alongside my studio practice, I also teach. After three decades of working with clay, I believe in sharing skills through grounded, experience-led instruction. Teaching keeps me attentive, reflective and continually learning—qualities that support both my own development and those beginning their journey with clay.
Whether producing everyday functional ware or larger sculptural forms, my intention is consistent: to create work that is thoughtfully designed, well made and built to be lived with. Each piece reflects a commitment to strong making, lasting usefulness and an approach shaped by long practice.
