My passion is creating abstract seascape paintings in oils. I live near the East coast of the Norfolk Broads. Walking meditations around Trimingham, Winterton, Caister beaches inspire my work. I use a bright colour palette to capture the changing landscape and the rugged beauty of the area. The paint itself is presented in layers, by working on several canvases at a time I revisit each one in turn until it feels finished. The outcome is often a long way from the starting point, however initial colours radiate through from the scratchy style mark making.
After 20 years working in Commercial Interior design in Sydney, Perth and London, I was drawn to get back into the studio to create paintings. I studied an Illustration degree at Westminster and went on to study an MA in Fine and applied arts practice at the University of Hertfordshire. It was a challenging time to return to study after a successful career in Interiors, but I followed my heart. I had a couple of tiny studios in Islington and Muswell Hill and was a member of East Finchley Open studios. The urge to move to the coast to paint on a larger format led me to my peaceful location in Upton where I have space to expand with a lovely light filled studio overlooking the garden.
I look forward to welcoming visitors to my studio.
