Note: if you are viewing this on a mobile device there seems to be a glitch where the dates aren't showing properly. I won't be fixing this as the same problem doesn't appear to be happening with actual artist pages that the public see. Caroline Houchell is a mixed media artist and printmaker and works from her garden studio in North Norfolk. Her work is centered on naturally found organic textures and always botanically inspired, reflecting moments of seasonal changes. She finds peace in the mindful and sensory immersive aspects of her process, starting with foraging for plant materials from her garden and surroundings and likes to delve beneath the surface and explore the imperfect beauty of decaying and fallen foliage.
Once the plant material has been collected and collated she also uses a variety of methods to make textures building up layers on her printing plate by using old packaging, bubble wrap etc. She uses gel plates ( a soft reusable printing plate ) in her practice which she finds an exciting serendipitous and spontaneous printing method for monoprints / monotypes and creating collage papers and printing directly on to Japanese tissues to layer within her mixed media work.
Caroline has exhibited in Norfolk and across the UK and sold internationally and is a member of Links & Layers, an Norfolk based mixed media group. Also a guest artist for Partners art group who exhibit in Cley and her work is also available in art and craft galleries in North Norfolk. Caroline also teaches gel printing workshops . Caroline is a member of North Norfolk Open Studios and has been shortlisted for the Sir John Hurt Art Prize in 22,23,24
.
