An accomplished screen printer and painter, Brigitte established her home based studio in Salhouse 25 years ago, in 2000.

Originally from Sheffield, Brigitte studied for her Fine Art Degree at Norwich University of the Arts (NUA) as a mature student. Following the death of her father from mesothelioma, her focus changed significantly as she realised she needed to follow her heart and be fully engaged in the creative process - rather than keeping her art as a means of relaxation, and only being shared with family and friends..

Brigitte's current work is an emotional response to her own life experiences - a remembered moment, an emotion or an idea - translated into the visual. Inspired by the world around us, her artworks are rarely fully planned in advance, but become an emotive journey, or dialogue, through colour and expression. Years of enquiry and experimentation allow her to create in this responsive way - looking, watching and responding; one action leads to another, shaped by a series of decisions and expressions along the way - until there is a synergy, or balance, between colour, shape and mark. The finished work may suggest a detailed narrative, or simply be a point for emotional reflection - inviting the viewer to a sensory response.

Brigitte says, " For me, my work will oscillate between ebullience and a more meditative calm. A non-ironic poetic aesthetic, the work explores what we feel, perceive or sense. Colour, shape and mark are juxtaposed to create currents of energy, or quietness, and balance. My hope is that the viewer will embark on a metaphorical journey - through colour, beyond the linear, geometric or gestural arrangements, and back again - to a sensory response, and finding their own point of connection."

Brigitte has exhibited widely - both in group and solo shows. Her work is held in corporate and private collections, both here in the UK and overseas - in Australia, France, Japan, Malaysia, USA and Sweden. It is also held as part of academic collections; at California State University, USA and ASAGAYA College of Art & Design, Tokyo.
