Note: if you are viewing this on a mobile device there seems to be a glitch where the dates aren't showing properly. I won't be fixing this as the same problem doesn't appear to be happening with actual artist pages that the public see. Bob Larking M.A.
Born in Kingston Upon Thames,I have lived for much of my life in East Anglia.
I started my working life as a Marine Engineer in Harwich on the East Coast. Living & working by the sea, has had a lasting influence on my Art. Boatyards Boats & Coastal Landscapes are often featured in my work.
In the1970's I graduated from Kingston University with a B.A. Honours in
Graphic Design specialising in Illustration. A career in Commercial Art followed, until I returned to East Anglia in the early 80's. In1989 I began teaching Art & Design in Further Education. I qualified as an Art Tutor for post16 Education, becoming a Course Leader for BTEC ND Graphics.
I returned to Kingston University to study in the1990's graduating with an M.A. in Art & Design.
After ten years in post-16 Education. I moved on to work as an Art Tutor with Norfolk Adult Education. I ran regular weekly classes & Art Workshops.
Around 2006, Government funding for these kinds of activities was greatly reduced & I began running my own private Art Groups. These continued successfully until the Pandemic. Lockdown gave me the opportunity to devote more time to my own work.
In my Art Practice I enjoy Drawing,Painting & Printmaking. I usually work
on location [Often outdoors] using sketchbooks. I also take photographs as a reminder, though I try not to rely on these. I believe that good Drawing, a strong sense of composition & flair for Colour & Design are important.
I usually make faithful full-colour studies on-site which become the main source for larger more finished “Sunday best” work in my Studio. My main objective is to make images in my own style which are colourful bold & happy!
This is my first Exhibition with North Norfolk Open Studios & I look forward to welcoming visitors to my show at Cromer Community Centre next Spring.
