Note: if you are viewing this on a mobile device there seems to be a glitch where the dates aren't showing properly. I won't be fixing this as the same problem doesn't appear to be happening with actual artist pages that the public see. Sculptural pieces reference ammonites, shells and nautilus, whereas my pots take the shapes of ships, leaves, fish and forms drawn from nature. I like the colour turquoise, along with cobalt, reds and yellows. Colours that lift the spirit.
My stoneware pieces are high-fired to 1240oC which means they can be placed in the garden, where the foliage acts as a foil to their bright colours. Experience shows that they have so far withstood the British weather.
With my experimental low-fired smoke and Raku work I aim to create surfaces with many visual layers, using oxides and special glazes.
