Note: if you are viewing this on a mobile device there seems to be a glitch where the dates aren't showing properly. I won't be fixing this as the same problem doesn't appear to be happening with actual artist pages that the public see. Making pottery makes me happy. I have always loved art and making anything and everything. I have a degree in fine art, painting from the University of Reading 1983, and a PGCE. I also have a masters in Art and Design Education and was an art teacher. I learn through making, I love materials and exploring the possibilities they provide for expressing myself and my desire to be creative, making things I hope others will enjoy using and appreciate. Observing forms and textures gives me ideas for work and I find walking in the local coastline, or Felbrigg Woods and Sheringham Park provides inspiration. I love the open ended nature of creativity and the possibility of creating something unique. Discussion related to my work, its successes and the things I can learn from in each piece are motivate me to do more work. Clay is part of the Earth, as we all are, and the interaction I have with it to make something new excites me. I continue to develop my practice and break boundaries building on the work I have done before.
I hope when you visit my studio you will see my work in progress. I use the wheel to create functional ware and hand build sculptural pieces, which are often observational.
