Historically my work has taken form through assemblage pieces and acrylic paintings, using found objects to encapsulate transient and fleeting memories of times and places in an autobiographical narrative.
Coming from a large town in Essex, never before had I observed the marking of seasons changing, almost like living in a large town numbed me to the beauty of each season as it unfolded.
However, since moving to North Norfolk in late 2019 (and subsequent covid lockdowns) I have had a copious amount of time to explore my newly inherited garden and surrounding local areas. During this time, I embarked on a new experimental way of using collage in my mixed media work, inspired by the seasonal transitions and my natural surroundings.
In the past, I monoprinted using acrylic sheets and glass, before discovering gel plates as a more convenient, effective and serendipitous method of producing textured and patterned collage papers. Through experimentation, my work has transformed into using found foliage, leaves, feathers and sticks from my own garden and walks down lanes, hedgerows and woodlands, to build up the layers and make stand-alone prints and mixed media works.
I am open 10am - 5pm every day from 27th May -4th June
